Hello. When not slaving over a hot computer, I make music as The Sound of The Ladies
I’m a solo performer who has released a series of EPs and been featured on Tom Robinson’s Introducing Show on BBC6 music, and the Sunday Times Culture Magazine, as well as in a bunch of music blogs and webzines. Perhaps you saw The Sound of The Ladies Lounge, an ongoing series of house gigs I film with some great musicians.
I sometimes write and perform songs about science as Dr Martin Austwick.
It’s possible that you may have seen me at Robin Ince’s comedy nights, The Book Club and The School for Gifted Children, playing songs about science and a stylophone with my big toe. You’ll be able to download and listen to “Songs from the scientific cabaret” from March 10th – but until then, hang on.
If you’re a podcast fan, you may know me as Martin the Sound Man from the Answer me This! podcast. I do the live sound for AMT, I write and perform a lot (but by no means all) of the music, and I take part in the podcast, answering listener questions with my blend of science, brummie wisdom and unrepeatable profanity. But if you’re a listener, you probably know that.
However you’ve found me, it’s a pleasure. This is a static page so if you would like regular news you’d be better off going to my website, following me on twitter, befriending me on facebook (I never check my myspace) or just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. On the other hand, if you just want to listen to music or get the free monthly podcast, visit thesoundoftheladies.com and it’s all there.
